Advice from APS to You
We give detailed, personal support and advice so you end up with what you want and need. So here are a few important pointers on wills and powers of attorney to help you start off your planning.
Don’t be afraid to ask for more advice
Handling your will and powers of attorney can be daunting, and doubly so without help. Asking for advice can be hard too though. However you decide to handle these issues, don’t be afraid to ask for help. A good provider will be happy to help.
Since we’re good providers, we’re happy to help non-clients as well as clients with their questions. Don’t worry, there’s no obligation.
“Good advice is what you give when you’re too old to set a bad example”
– Franois de La Rochefoucauld
Assign powers of attorney well before they are needed
Many people wait until their decision-making ability is fading to assign powers of attorney. This can lead to unnecessary stress, confusion and even legal rejection of their instructions, which can cause many more problems.
If you are over 50 or in a situation where decision-making is at risk, it’s a good idea to appoint attorneys now.
Account for all possibilities
Life doesn’t always go as planned, and legal arrangements like wills must account for this. Even normal things like remarriages can cause your estate to end up with the wrong person if your will is not carefully written and executed, so we offer you options and advice to make allowances for all possibilities as your will is written and probate arranged.
54% of Brits don’t have wills, making life potentially difficult for their relations when they pass away.
Give your will careful consideration if you…
- Have a large or complex family
- Want to hand down a large estate
- Want to be guard against unexpected situations
In these situations, it is always worthwhile getting the advice of a professional.
